3.- Name some disadvantages of using bitmap format graphics.

Bitmaps have two disadvantages. In terms of the amount of digital storage, bitmaps are memory intensive, and the higher the resolution, the larger the file size. The other disadvantage with bitmaps is when an image is enlarged, the individual coloured squares become visible and the illusion of a smooth image is lost to the viewer. This 'pixelation' makes the image look coarse.

5 .- Give some advantages and disadvantages of using vector format graphics.

Advantage:

-Each vector objet is scalable and can generally be resized without any loss of memory.

Disadvantage:

-Vector images though they are highly defined, are not appropiate for use in producing realistic-looking photos and images. Vector images have solid color and they are not conducive to sequences of subtle color tone and shade.

ENGLISH AND COMPUTER

Unit 1 - COMPUTERS AND THE PASSIVE VOICE

- When the computer is switched off, the contents of ROM are not lost.
- The main use of ROM memory in a computer is to store a program that runs when the computer is turned on.
- The contents of RAM can be changed because it only stores programs temporarily.
- Binary numbers are used by computers because they are very simple to make electronic circuits for.
- A binary number is represented by a pattern of 0 and 1.
- A single unit in binary is called a bit.
- Computer memory is measured is bytes.
- One byte is needed for each letter.
